Why Choose a Gas Furnace?

gas-burnerAre you thinking about investing in a new home heating system? One bit of advice we’ll give you is this—do not rush the selection process. You don’t want to really bide your time, considering how late in the year it already is, but you also don’t want to rush into a heating system that is not going to suit your needs and personal user preferences well. One system we wholeheartedly suggest is the gas furnace.

The gas furnace may well be the most popular of all home heating systems throughout the country, in fact. And, after reading this blog post, we suspect that you will understand why. You may even decide that a gas furnace is the right system for your needs. So read on, reach out to a member of our team with any questions that you may have, and remember to schedule your gas furnace services in Cherry Hill, NJ with us.

Natural Gas: A Great Resource

Natural gas is not as ubiquitous as, say, electricity, which is obviously used in just about every home. In fact, you may need to have natural gas lines and hookups installed if they are not already in place and you want to use this fuel in your home. Is it worth that type of investment?

We, and countless others, think so.

Natural gas is piped directly into your home. That requires the pipes and hookups mentioned above, of course, but is also hugely beneficial in and of itself. You don’t have to worry about scheduling fuel deliveries, for starters, nor do you have to worry about storing combustible fuels on your property in big, ugly tanks.

There is also the fact that natural gas is relatively clean-burning when compared with other fossil fuels. Because it is also a largely domestic product, you don’t have to worry about the instability and fluctuations in pricing that you would with oil.

Gas Furnaces Heat Homes Effectively and Efficiently

Natural gas doesn’t just burn clean. It burns hot. And the method of distributing heated air throughout your home via a system of air ducts allows for the prompt and effective heating of the house. Use a central air conditioning system, or planning to have one installed? These systems can share ductwork, as well.

Modern gas furnaces boast very high energy efficiency ratings, as denoted by their AFUE. This, paired with the relative affordability of natural gas, is a winning combination. Are electric furnaces more efficient, technically? Yes, in fact, they are, because they don’t lose any heat to flue gases. That being said, electricity itself is still much more expensive in terms of fueling a heater, so using an electric furnace is still more costly than using a gas model. Efficiency is not interchangeable with affordability.
